Abstract
Survival from an earthquake is an event haunted by an after-tremor of lifelong phobia. To a man who has had a violent epileptic seizure, the fit is as fearful an experience as an earthquake. The patient is phobic of an epileptic fit because he doesn¢¥t know when it will bring on another attack. Nevertheless, his E.E.G. showings are normal. He is of draft age, Conversely, a patient who has had a brief convulsion comes accompanied by his employer or his spouse and they demand a test vouching that he is no doubt an epileptic. The role of an M.D. who has to intervene in an embarrassing situation like this is grave and important. First, the question is how perfect and accurate the test is. Secondly, the patient must be given a safe test with no or least strain as possible laid on him. This study is a new trial by the author who has often encountered many cases of these critical questions. It is less harmful and painful than his previous study, and he has drawn out much safer and reliable results.
